female youth.

of discovery for girls ages 9 to 17.

Needs Assessment
School year 2011-2012 continues to be a difficult period
in in our society for girls.  Being a girl today is both
complicated and fun.  Told one day it is possible to be
the future leader of the nation…recognized for world-wide
achievements in sports and science…then portrayed as
sex objects while still a teenage, because that's what the
media says her role-models are into.

The many mixed messages today's urban girl receives
has her  feeling a little lost and a lot confused.  It's no
wonder today's girl is have a hard time figuring out who
she is.  Increased negative peer pressure and media
influence contribute to a girl being diverted from fulfilling
her academic potential, community service responsibility,
and her walk with God.  Add in bullying in school and the
complications of having a presence online…and, well,
being a girl today is fun, but seriously complicated!

The Mission's innovative Inspiring Girls' Hope Program
serves as a buffer against the crazy outside world.  It
provides a safe and nurturing experience for girls to
beginning the process of exploring who they are and what
they can do.  A good time is had by all...as the tea party
room is especially beautiful, the food is delicious, the
adult facilitators are inspirational.

Program Content
The tea party format is not only innovative and inspiring, it is a safe non-judgmental place in which
a young girl can develop her authentic voice and have her self-esteem nurtured.  Looking in from
the outside, you may see chatting and giggling and the lifting of tea cups as "healthy" tea cakes
are munched.  As an adult coach working with the girls, you would see eager young minds opening
up to ask the questions they've been anxious to ask someone.  You would witness the  building of
trust between girls who will become the women of tomorrow, and you would see vulnerable young
girls exploring life’s tricky topics.

Positive choices and self esteem are the underlying areas that continue to be built and explored
through the tea parties.  Bible-based principles, the awareness of community service projects, and
entertaining performances by area role-models serve to keep these tea-totallers well rounded.

The presentation style and content of all activities and dialoguing topics are based on age.

       I Am, I Can, I Will
I AM--two small words, and yet,
It's a powerful "place" in which to be.
It's my life, and I'm living it.
I am everything you see.

I am responsible for my actions,
And all the things I say and do.
I am responsible for my behavior,
And how I interact with you.

I am responsible for the level of my work,
And the choices that I make.
I am responsible for the values I profess,
And for the ways that I communicate.

I CAN--two small words, andyet,
It's a powerful "place" in which to be.
I can earn the respect of others,
And gain their friendship true.
I can honor all things living, and
Take care of my mind, health and body, too.

I can do my best each day,
An dI can know my best is great.
I can continue to progress,
And move closer to my fate.

I WILL--two small words, and yet,
It's a powerful "place" in which to be.
It's my life and I'm livin git,
I will be everything, just wait and see.

I WILL--two small words, and yet,
It's a powerful "place" in which to be.
It's my life and I'm living it,
I will be everything, just wait and see.

I will use my talents wisely,
Learn to manage the moods of life.
I will respect my ups and downs,
Ask for help in overcoming strife.

I will is a promise to see  clearly,
It reveals my strength to win.
As I arrive at mutual resolutions,
And look for my answers from within.

I'm young, still learning, growing, changing,
Yet I have  ideals, noble goals, and plans,
For things like a healthy environment,
World peace and a crime-free land.

Don't underestimate my value...
Because I am, I can and I will.
